Oman Reveals Tender Opportunities Worth OMR 1.5 B

Oman`s Projects, Tenders and Local Content Authority recently hosted the Government Projects Forum 2026 at Muscats Exhibition and Convention Centre. It outlined the mechanisms of tendering and awarding, as well as the process of digital transition in the tendering system. The authority emphasised commitment to clarity when announcing government projects, strengthening transparency and improving ease of doing business in Oman.

Transparency Clarity Will Improve Ease Of Doing Busines In Oman

During the forum, the Authority revealed the total estimated value of upcoming projects exceeds OMR 1.5 billion (USD 3.89 billion). Accordingly, this includes approved projects worth OMR 475 million (USD 1.23 billion) and contracts worth OMR 1 billion (USD 2.59 billion) under review. Moreover, officials indicated that over 10,000 tenders are planned to be floated through 57 government entities. This reflects continued momentum in implementing development plans and supporting economic growth while improving ease of doing business in Oman. Accordingly, these include urban and maintenance contracting, ports, roads, bridges, railways, dams, pipeline networks and well drilling. In addition further tenders were floated in electromechanical and telecommunications contracting, consultancy services, supplies, general services and information technology services. The timing of each  tenders launch and status were specified, allowing companies to plan accordingly while also improving the ease of doing business in Oman.

Muscat Governate Offers Highest Amount Of Tenders In Several Sectors

Muscat Governorate recorded the highest number of approved tenders with 314, followed by South Al Sharqiyah with 111 and Dhofar with 69. Likewise the largest amount of tenders under review was Muscat with 413, South Al Batinah on 129 and North Al Batinah at 101. Data presented revealed that port, road, bridge, railway and maintenance contracting accounted for 58.29% of approved tenders reflecting a focus on infrastructure projects. Supplies ranked second with 15.53% of approved values, followed by services at 8.57% and urban contracting and maintenance in fourth with 7.68%. Moreover, electromechanical and telecommunications contracting accounted for 4.23% of approved values while IT services represented 4.07%.
