Oman investment opportunities are available to construct a new access road to the mountain village of Wakan, South Batinah. The project is aimed at improving connectivity and supporting tourism development in one of the Sultanate’s most scenic highland areas.
Nakhal Road Project Closely Aligning With Initiatives Of Vision 2040
The Sultanate`s Projects, Tenders and Local Content Authority recently announced several Oman investment opportunities to build a road linking Wadi Mistal to Wakan Village in Nakhal. According to the tender notice, the project is classified under the excellent grade category, highlighting technical scope and strategic importance. The tender value is OMR 910,000 (USD 2.36 million) with OMR 91,000 (USD 236,540) allocated for small and medium enterprises. Consequently, the project closely aligns with Oman Vision 2040 and emphasises infrastructure development, tourism diversification and greater involvement of local companies in government projects. The deadline for submission of bids is February 23. Moreover, officials said the project is part of wider development plans to enhance the tourism potential of Wakan. Situated around 2,000m above sea level, Wakan has become a popular destination for hikers, nature enthusiasts and photographers.
Infrastructure Projects Boosting Connectivity Opening In 2026
In associated news, several vital road infrastructure projects across the Sultanate are expected to be inaugurated in 2026. They feature within the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology’s ongoing efforts to enhance connectivity, boost economic growth and support sustainable development. So the completing projects are the dualisation of Farooq Road in Dhofar Governorate and paving of roads in Wilayat Muqshin. In addition, Sultan Turki Road linking Al Kamil and Al Wafi with Sur in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate will complete. Furthermore the construction of the Aqabat Wadi Bani Khalid Road will also be finalised. Other major works include the paving of the Harweeb–Al Mazunah–Maiten Road. Similarly, construction of Al Mughsail Road and Bridge Project and paving of the Seih Al Khairat–Al Shisr Road, Dhofar.
