Saudi Arabia Tax Authority Extends Initiative

Saudi Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority extended its initiative for waiving taxpayer fines and financial penalties by six months. The scheme applies to all entities subject to all tax systems and is effective from July 1, 2026.

Taxpayers Must Be Registered With Authority To Benefit From Initiative

The Saudi Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority initiative incorporates late payment of taxes and delayed submission of tax returns. Furthermore, it includes fines related to corrections of value added tax (VAT) returns. In order to benefit from the initiative, taxpayers must be registered with the Authority. In addition, they must submit all required tax returns and settle the full principal amount of any outstanding tax liabilities. Taxpayers may also apply for an instalment plan, provided the application is submitted during the validity of the initiative. However, to qualify for this initiative all instalments must be paid in accordance with the authorities approved payment schedule.

The Saudi Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority emphasised that the initiative does not cover penalties under several situations. Notably, these include fines arising from tax evasion violations and penalties imposed under Article 45 of the VAT Law. Likewise, penalties settled before the initiative or any tax return related penalties due after June 30 will not be covered.
