Qatar’s Growth Outlook Strengthens Reflecting Resilience

Qatar’s economic growth is expected to continue in 2025, supported by robust public investment and its commitment to economic diversification.

Real GDP Increase Will Support Transition To Developed Market

According to Standard Chartered Bank`s report titled “Global Focus – Economic Outlook H2-2025” Qatar continues to stand out for its resilience and forward-looking policies. Accordingly, the bank maintains its 2025 GDP growth forecast for Qatar at 4%, while raising the 2026 forecast to 5.5%. This revised outlook is above the average market expectation of 5.2%. As a result, such figures reflect increased confidence in the timeline for the State`s gas output expansion and LNG export growth. Notably, the report sees Qatar’s real GDP per capita rising to approximately QAR 400,000 (USD 110,000) by 2026. Importantly, this increase will support the country’s transition toward developed market status and potential inclusion in various emerging market indices.

Non – Hydrocarbon Sector Developing Into Key Driver

The non-hydrocarbon sector, currently accounting for over 60% GDP, is a key driver, led by tourism, financial services and trade. Notably, non-hydrocarbon growth increased in Q4, 2024 to 6.1% year on year, the fastest in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). Furthermore, the positive impact of new public-private partnership (PPP) legislation was highlighted, which is likely to encourage greater private sector participation. Additionally, it is expected to enhance infrastructure development across the country. Qatar’s long-term vision continues to set it apart amidst a volatile global environment. Accordingly, its continued stability is demonstrated by a low fiscal break-even oil price and a long-term commitment to economic diversification. Notably, the country’s forward looking policy agenda is backed by strong fundamentals and a clear commitment to diversification. Aligned with Qatar National Vision 2030, Qatar is demonstrating how targeted reforms and strategic investments can unlock sustainable growth.
