Qatar`s International Centre for Conciliation and Arbitration (QICCA) emphasised that electronic arbitration is vital when resolving commercial and financial disputes. E-arbitration is an important mechanism for enhancing speed and efficiency, especially amid rapid digital transformation and the increasing reliance of businesses on modern technologies. By embracing this modern approach, it strengthens the appeal of the Qatari market by supporting both local and international investors.
E-Arbitration Subject Of Recent QICCA Seminar
The topic was discussed at a seminar organised by the QICCA and the International Chamber of Commerce Qatar (ICC Qatar). Held recently at the Qatar Chamber, the seminar fell under the title “Arbitration and Digital Transformation. It emphasised that online arbitration offers disputing parties several benefits including greater flexibility in terms of time and location. Further advantages include reducing administrative and legal costs often associated with traditional in person procedures. Moreover, E-arbitration enables transparent and secure electronic documentation of all dispute stages, enhancing trust between parties and safeguarding legal rights. It also helps improve the business environment by providing investors with quick and effective dispute resolution mechanisms.
The seminar also examined a working paper “Electronic Arbitration and the Recommended Amendments of UNCITRAL 2025 – Regarding the Implementation of its Judgments”. As a result, it discussed the definition of electronic arbitration and the legitimacy and enforceability of electronic arbitration clauses. Moreover the paper explores the evidential strength of E-arbitration and its relationship under national and international laws. Importantly UNCITRAL’s 2025 initiatives aim to promote and recognise electronic arbitration through its recently introduced E-Arbitration Awards Initiative.
