Oman`s Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP) recently sent a high level delegation to meet representatives from Qatar Chamber. The meeting reviewed cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the commercial, economic and investment fields.
Invest In Oman Promotes Opportunities Across Range Of Sectors
The investment promotion organisation “Invest in Oman” highlighted 78 investment opportunities for Qatari investors across a wide variety of sectors. These included fisheries, food and pharmaceutical industries, manufacturing, technology, minerals, renewable energy, tourism and agriculture. Further discussions addressed the role of the private sector in enhancing trade exchange and fostering mutual and joint investments. Both sides also discussed strengthening economic partnerships and ways of increasing the exchange of regular visits and trade delegations. Moreover both parties explored the possibility of organising an annual Omani-Qatar trade exhibition to highlight available opportunities to business communities. The meeting also underlined the need to develop a joint executive action plan aimed at boosting trade exchange and expanding areas of cooperation. Notably, both countries aim to strengthen economic relations and build strategic partnerships to achieve Omans Vision 2040 and Qatar`s National Vision 2030.
Oman And Qatar Trade Exchange Increases By 17%
Importantly, economic relations between Qatar and Oman have witnessed remarkable development in recent years. Notably, the volume of trade exchange between both countries increased by 17% in 2024. Figures show OMR 656 million (USD 1.70 billion) in 2024, compared with OMR 560 million (USD 1.46 billion) in 2023. There are 480 Omani companies registered at Qatar Chamber which are operating in the Qatari market across various sectors. Conversely a large number of Qatari companies are investing and establishing themselves in the Omani market.
The Omani delegation also met with the Qatar Free Zones Authority (QFZA) as part of their visit. During the meeting, both sides discussed cooperation efforts in attracting investment and exchanged their shared experiences in the freezone field.
