Oman Announces Agricultural Projects In Dhahirah

Oman`s Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning (MHUP) has announced 4 new investment opportunities for usufruct land in Dhahirah governorate. The scope encompasses a combination of plant and animal projects across a total area covering 16 hectares.

Projects Aim To Strengthen Agricultural Sector And Attract Investment

Prospects include citrus and fig cultivation, each on separate 4 hectare plots in the Al Buwairda area of Yanqul. Further options offer livestock breeding and seasonal fodder cultivation on 4 hectares in the Qarn Kabsh area of Ibri. In addition, opportunities to cultivate palm and date production on 4 hectares in the Al Ghuwail area, Ibri are available. According to the Ministry, the projects aim to strengthen the agricultural sector and attract investors to ventures that support Oman Vision 2040’s economic diversification goals. Importantly, the sites were selected based on soil quality, water availability and market demand to ensure long-term viability.

Further details and usufruct terms are available on the Tatweer platform, with applications open to local and foreign investors. Preference will be given to proposals that adopt modern irrigation systems, sustainable farming practices and value-added production to improve competitiveness in local and export markets.

Dhahirah Governate Selected Due To Its Proximity To Regional Markets

The initiative is shared between the Ministry of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources (MAFWR), the MHUP and the private sector. As a result, the MAFWR is allocating land and developing investment plans to enhance food security and sustainable agricultural growth. Dhahirah governate has been identified as an area for agricultural expansion due to its fertile land and proximity to regional markets. Furthermore, its favourable, stable climate is ideal for fruit cultivation. Officials expect the projects will attract both commercial and small-scale investors.
