Platform Launched To Trade Agricultural RWA`s

Astana Financial Services Authority recently granted a licence to operate a trading platform for tokenised real-world assets. Accordingly, the platform will be regulated under the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) jurisdiction.

Astana Financial Services Authority Platform Developing Tokenisation

The initiative opens up the development and future implementation of solutions for tokenising real-world assets (RWA`s). Importantly, it will enable their trading on the Astana Financial Services Authority platform using advanced AIFC licensed digital technologies. The project’s first application will focus on the tokenisation of agricultural products, including grain stored at modernised grain elevators.

The platform will operate within the AIFC’s FinTech Lab regulatory sandbox under a licence issued by Astana Financial Services Authority. As a result, it involves the development of infrastructure equipped with Internet of Things (IoT) technologies and artificial intelligence solutions. In the future, the model may be expanded to other Kazakhstan regions, international markets and additional categories of real-world assets. Tokenisation is a way of linking a digital instrument to a tangible asset within the real economy. This model combines international regulation, blockchain technology, IoT-enabled monitoring and the practical needs of the agricultural sector. It ensures transparency, full traceability of issuance and trading and a direct link between digital financial instruments and the underlying physical asset.

Initiative Will Feature Digital Monitoring And Cutting Edge Technology

A key feature will be the “Transparent Elevator” system which enables real-time tracking of quantity and condition of stored grain. This is possible due to digital monitoring using temperature and humidity sensors, automated weighing systems and other smart technologies. This financial model will enable farmers to use tokenised assets as collateral for short-term financing. During higher market prices, tokens may be sold, while smart contracts will automatically settle outstanding loans and transfer remaining proceeds to farmers.
