Qatar and Turkey recently held talks to accelerate ways of increasing bilateral trade volume to QAR 18.2 billion (USD 5 billion). The high level Ankara meetings were held between Qatar`s Ministry Foreign Trade and Turkey`s Ministry of Trade, Treasury and Finance.
Relations Progressing On Trade And Economic Partnership Agreement
Discussions focused on enhancing economic, trade and investment ties between the two nations and boosting bilateral trade. Relations have made tremendous progress following last year’s implementation of the Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA). Under the Agreement, Qatar and Turkey are working to create new opportunities for businesses and expand access to each other’s markets. In addition, talks covered enhancing the resilience of supply chains and trade corridors and strengthening partnerships between both business communities. Further topics included supporting the private sector in capitalising on available opportunities and broadening the horizons of economic partnerships.
Foreign Trade Between Qatar And Turkey Reaches QAR 4.73 B In 2025
Total annual foreign trade increased 53-fold over the last 21 years, reaching QAR 4.73 billion (USD 1.3 billion) in 2025. Around 250 Qatari companies have investments worth QAR 28.39 billion (USD 7.8 billion) in Turkey, spanning sectors including finance/banking, energy, logistics, media and agriculture. In order to increase trade volume the Qatar Investment Authority is implementing initiatives to expand its investments in Turkey. Meanwhile, approximately 1,116 Turkish companies of different sizes operate in Qatar’s construction, services and manufacturing sectors among others.
The Turkish Trade Ministry confirmed both sides mutual commitment to staging the second Qatar-Turkey Joint Economic and Trade Commission meeting.
