Kazakhstan has simplified visa, entry and work permit procedures to attract foreign investors, skilled professionals and labour migrants. The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection now offers simplified visa regimes, faster application processing and support for investment projects. Furthermore, it also prioritizes highly skilled foreign workers in sectors including information technology, healthcare, engineering, manufacturing and creative industries.
Kazakhstan Work Visa System Reflects Applicant`s Nationality
Kazakhstan work visa system operates in accordance with the nationality of the applicant. For non-nationals of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Kazakhstan applies a quota-based system aligned with labour market demand. Since the beginning of 2026, the country issued 5,100 permits for in-demand occupations and around 75,000 permits for labour immigrants. In addition, it has set quotas of 23,600 foreign workers and 221,800 labour immigrants.
Citizens of EAEU member states – Armenia, Belarus, the Kyrgyz Republic and Russia, continue to benefit from visa-free labour mobility. Accordingly, Kazakhstan nationals are entitled to reciprocal rights across the region according to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection.
System Is Designed To Attract Applicants For Long Term Residency
The Ministry revealed the system is designed to balance economic needs with domestic employment protection, ensuring controlled inflows of foreign workers. Meanwhile, Kazakhstan is introducing a modernised permanent residency process based on digital screening, language assessment and interagency review. Accordingly, the new migration policy is intended to attract applicants committed to long-term residence and integration.
