Saudi Public Investment Fund is contributing to Saudi`s forecasted 5.5% economy expansion in 2027 according to the International Monetary Fund. The prediction reflects Vision 2030 reforms and expects consumption and investment to remain as the main drivers of medium-term growth.
Saudi Public Investment Fund Spearheading Diversified Investment
The IMF forecast said the Kingdom`s economy demonstrated strong resilience, supported by low government debt, ample reserves and diversified investment led by the Saudi Public Investment Fund. The report said the continuation of progress on megaprojects and economic reforms, would boost growth momentum. It added that the government continues pursuing reforms aimed at strengthening medium-term fiscal sustainability, including modernising the social insurance system. In addition, it is focussing on improving spending efficiency and enhancing the quality of public services. Accordingly, public debt remains at sustainable levels, while sovereign risks are limited by the strength of the Kingdom`s financial assets. The IMF also highlighted significant improvements in public spending efficiency over the past two decades, supported by ongoing national initiatives.
Fiscal Indicators Demonstrate Saudi Arabia`s Healthy Status
Saudi Central Bank`s net foreign assets stood at SAR 1.83 billion (USD 488 billion) at the end of May 2026. The figure represents 14 months of import cover while the IMF noted the country`s growing presence in international capital markets. Bond issuance exceeded SAR 225 billion (USD 60 billion) in 2025, with the government, Saudi Public Investment Fund and Saudi Aramco accounting for over half. It also praised the domestic debt market development, noting the inclusion of Saudi riyal-denominated government sukuk in global bond indexes. Moreover, Saudi Arabia’s initial public offering market raised SAR 15.75 billion (USD 4.2 billion) through 40 IPOs on the main and parallel markets in 2025. In addition, labour law amendments introduced in 2025 enhanced labour market flexibility and equal opportunity.
Over the past decade, Saudi Vision 2030 has strengthened institutional frameworks and several targets have already been achieved ahead of schedule. Notably, Saudi Public Investment Fund 2026-2030 strategy calls for a more selective allocation of capital and greater private-sector participation.
