International Financial Centre of Oman Established

International Financial Centre of Oman (IFC) was recently established under Royal Decree No. 8/2026. It will operate with legal and financial independence and marks a significant step in Oman’s strategy to enhance its position as a leading international financial hub.

International Financial Centre of Oman Closely Aligns With Vision 40

The International Financial Centre of Oman is pivotal development in Oman’s economic landscape and closely aligns with Oman Vision 2040. It aims to foster a competitive and innovative financial environment to boost the country’s integration into the global economy. Further goals include strengthening Oman’s reputation as a stable, reputable place to conduct business, support local employment and economic diversification. An important, key initiative of the International Financial Centre of Oman is to attract both regional and international capital.

International Financial Centre of Oman is located in Madinat Al Irfan, Muscat, with establishments required to operate within its boundaries. Licensed entities may establish branches outside IFC or acquire shares in local companies, adhering to Omani legislation and regulations. The Regulatory Authority may authorise licensed establishments to conduct their activities outside Oman. International Financial Centre of Oman is governed by The Council, consisting of a board of directors appointed by Royal Order. Importantly, the IFC will feature its own judicial system – Primary Court and a Court of Appeal – with the option to establish additional courts.

Tax Exemptions And Incentives Being Offered To Attract Investors

In order to attract investment, the IFC will offer a variety of tax incentives and exemptions. These include exemption from income tax/withholding tax for non-resident legal persons on income earned from transactions with IFC Oman authorities/establishments. Further exemption from income tax/withholding tax available for foreigners on certain transactions with IFC authorities/establishments – generated within/outside Oman. Tax exemption will apply for a maximum period of 50 years from the date Decree 8/2026 comes into effect.

International Financial Centre of Oman will facilitate entry visas and residence permits for non-Omani individuals and their immediate family members.
