Saudi Arabia Unveils New Freight Corridors

Saudi Arabia has launched a new international rail logistics corridor linking its Eastern Province ports with its northern Al-Haditha border. The route will connect Dammam`s King Abdulaziz Port and Jubail`s Commercial Port and King Fahd Industrial Port to Jordan and neighbouring countries.

New Route To Boost Trade Flows And Regional Connectivity

The new Saudi Arabian Railways line is aimed at boosting trade flows and improving supply chain efficiency. Spanning 1,700 kilometres, it will handle trains carrying over 400 containers each, expanding freight capacity and strengthening regional connectivity. Accordingly, the new route will limit reliance on long-distance haulage by expanding modern transportation solutions to utilise alternative logistics options. Importantly, the initiative aligns with the Kingdom’s National Transport and Logistics Strategy and Vision 2030 objectives. Both strategies aim to enhance integration across all transport modes and logistics services. Furthermore, it aligns with Saudi Arabia broader Logistics Corridors Initiative aiming to redistribute freight from Eastern ports to Red Sea gateways.

Saudi Arabia Mawani Announces New Maritime Passage

In associated news, Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) announced a partnership with UAE based Gulftainer to establish a new maritime trade passage. It will connect Dammam on Saudi Arabia east coast with Sharjah’s Khorfakkan Port on the Gulf of Oman. The route will integrate Sajaa Dry Port with Dammam and Khorfakkan Commercial Terminal (KCT) and facilitate faster cross-border movement. Additionally, Mawani launched five new shipping services via the Kingdom’s Red Sea ports in collaboration with five international operators to facilitate regional and international trade.
