Qatar and Belgium Deepen Economic Ties

Qatar and Belgium are strengthening their economic ties and exploring further collaboration following a recent business summit. The meeting examined ways of increasing bilateral trade by reinforcing partnerships including joint ventures, technology exchange and targeted sector alliance.

Health and Sustainable Construction Sectors Identified For Collaboration

Importantly, the two nations renewed their commitment to long-term, innovation-driven cooperation while also aiming to facilitate business connections between stakeholders. The delegation included 40 Belgian companies and 60 participants representing a range of strategic sectors. During the mission, nearly 30 business-to-business (B2B) and 8 business-to-government (B2G) meetings were organised. Accordingly, several sectors emerged as being suitable for partnership, notably health tech, sustainable construction and the circular economy. Furthermore, Qatar’s expanding healthcare sector was identified as a natural fit for Belgium’s advanced medical capabilities. As a result, notable dialogue between Hamad Medical Corporation and the Brussels H.U.B. Bordet Hospital discussed cancer treatment collaboration.  Belgium is internationally recognised for the quality of its healthcare system and its hospitals offer cutting-edge expertise in oncology and digital health.

Further Bilateral Exchanges Scheduled Over Coming Months

Similarly, Belgium’s experience in sustainable urban planning and eco-friendly building practices aligns closely with Qatar’s smart city ambitions under Vision 2030. Accordingly, energy transition and circular economy practices were also high on both nations agenda. Further sessions discussed offering innovative green energy solutions and waste-to-energy technology that could meaningfully contribute to Qatar’s sustainability objectives. Belgian companies are motivated and ready to deliver products, co-create, offer expertise and support capacity building in the relevant sectors. Importantly, the high level exchanges laid the groundwork for more structured bilateral cooperation in upcoming months. Furthermore, they also successfully renewed both nations commitment and strengthened mutual understanding while also deepening institutional ties.
