Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources recently announced 103 new factories were licenced in January 2025. This marks a significant milestone for the Kingdom’s industrial sector and highlights the increasing number of establishments reaching full operational capacity. Ministry statistics reveal total investment of SAR 900 million (USD 240 million) demonstrating the growth of the industrial landscape. Further figures reveal that approximately 1,504 new jobs were generated. In addition, the Ministry also issued 63 industrial licenses in January according to the National Industrial and Mining Information Centre.

Saudi Vision 30 – Establishing The Kingdom As a Leading Industrial Hub

As part of the Saudi Vision 2030, the country is accelerating efforts to diversify its economy. Notably, the industrial and manufacturing sectors are playing a key role in reducing the traditional reliance on oil. Other policies including the National Industrial Development and Logistics Programme are central to the Kingdom’s strategy. Such initiatives are aiming to establish Saudi as a leading regional hub for advanced manufacturing, petrochemicals, mining and renewable energy. Consequently, there are plans to increase the number of factories to 36,000 by 2035, including 4,000 fully automated facilities. This ambitious goal is part of the Kingdom’s strategy to foster a dynamic, innovation-driven industrial sector.

Investment in Projects Creating Increased Employment Opportunities

Additional figures published by the General Authority for Statistics reveal the country’s industrial production index saw a 1.3% year-on-year increase, driven by continued growth in manufacturing and waste management. However, the manufacturing sub-index rose by 4% annually, supported by a 4.3% increase in coke production and refined petroleum products. Moreover a 4.2% rise in chemicals and chemical products was recorded. The report also revealed that investments related to new industrial licenses amounted to SAR 1.2 billion (USD 320 million). Such projects will generate over 2,500 new job opportunities across the Kingdom.
