Oman Opens Tenders For Major Development Projects

Oman`s Al Dhahirah Governorate is quickly emerging as one of the Sultanate`s most promising regions for future growth. Investment is being driven through strategic projects identified by the Ministry of Economy (MoE) to boost competitiveness and attract investment.

Al Dhahirah Governorate Focussing On Wide Variety Of Industries

The governorate is focussing on engineering industries supporting oil and gas. Furthermore, it is concentrating on logistics services, technology-based food industries and renewable energy initiatives including solar power. As a result, each administrative region has been assigned a specialised role to ensure sectoral integration. Notably, Ibri is positioned as a regional hub for economic, educational and social activity linked to the energy sector. Meanwhile, Yanqul will serve as a centre for food manufacturing and agricultural trade. Dhank will focus on mining, industrial development and rural tourism services across the Hajar range. Importantly, the MoE outlined several major initiatives already advancing across the governorate. These include the Ibri 3 Solar Power Station, Ibri Industrial City and the Ibri Science and Innovation Centre. Accordingly, these are all expected to strengthen renewable energy production and industrial diversification.

Infrastructure projects including the Ibri–Dhank Road and creation of Ibri Market aim to stimulate trade and improve connectivity. Other initiatives include the Yanqul Copper Warehouse Project, a new public park, a hospital and the Jufayfah Dam in Dhank, which will enhance water resources and agricultural output. Furthermore, Dhahirah`s Integrated Economic Zone (near the Empty Quarter border crossing) is being developed as a major investment destination. As a result, this will expand logistics links and generate new employment opportunities.

Dakhliyah Governate Announces New Investment Opportunities

In associated news, Dakhliyah governate recently announced new investment opportunities as part of the Jebel Shams Grand Canyon Project. It aims to promote one of Oman’s most significant tourism destinations by attracting private capital, while enhancing national income. The tender offers three projects, including an adventure zone covering 10,012 square metres on a 25-year contract with a 2.5 year grace period for construction. In addition, a tourist resort will be built on 14,000 square metres with a 50-year contract and 3- year grace period. The final tender is a tourist camp covering 20,440 square meters, also offered with a 50-year contract and 3-year grace period.
