Oman’s three airport cities are aiming to attract total investment worth over OMR 307.86 million (USD 800 million) by 2030. According to the Civil Aviation Authority the roadmap for the development of Muscat, Salalah and Suhar airport cities is completed.
Muscat Airport City Master Plan Will Feature Five Dedicated Clusters
Direct investments in Muscat Airport City surpassed OMR 30.79 million (USD 80 million), with projections to exceed OMR 192.42 million (USD 500 million) by 2030. The Muscat Airport City master plan features five dedicated clusters – Business Gate, Commerce/Free Zone Gate, Hospitality Gate, Aviation Gate and Logistics Gate. Accordingly, they are each designed to support different commercial and operational functions.
Earlier this year, Oman Airports signed a memorandum of understanding to explore development and investment opportunities in Muscat International Airport. The agreement seeks to expand cooperation in developing key projects that enhance commercial, hospitality and entertainment offerings for travellers. Moreover, the project will focus on increasing investment returns and supporting Oman’s real estate development sector which will enhance the area’s long-term value. In addition, Oman Airports signed an agreement with Singapore’s Changi Airports International (CAI) to boost commercial and aviation revenues. The partnership will promote knowledge exchange and develop projects to improve the travel experience. CAI will support initiatives to grow non-aeronautical revenues through land leasing and creating themed activity zones for residents and visitors.
