Oman and Saudi Arabia agreed to mutually recognise the certificate of origin to accelerate the flow of goods while deepening integration. The new initiatives were discussed at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion in Muscat during a bilateral meeting.
Oman And Saudi To Develop Strategic Partnerships
Both countries endorsed a second package of integration measures, which included listing Omani and Saudi products within approved industrial capabilities. Further actions resulted in equal treatment for companies applying for tenders and procurement contracts and streamlined product registration with regulators. Additional decisions saw a fast-track conformity approval system launched and incentives to encourage joint industrial investments. Further discussions considered closer value-chain integration, including free-trade agreements. Moreover, several memorandums of understanding were signed to develop strategic partnerships, exchange expertise and open new markets for national products. The new initiatives aim to improve Omani-Saudi industrial integration by attracting investments, while simplifying regulatory procedures and quality standards. Accordingly, they will promote both countries as industrial and trade hubs, aligned with Oman Vision 2040 and Saudi Vision 2030.
Omani industrial exports rose 39% to OMR 733 million (USD 1.9 billion) by Q2 2025 from OMR 526 million (USD 1.37 billion) a year earlier. Further data from the National Centre for Statistics and Information revealed Saudi exports to Oman increased 10% to OMR 762 million (USD 1.98 billion). Total bilateral trade grew 20% to OMR 1.76 billion (USD 4.57 billion), demonstrating stronger demand for Omani products in the Saudi market.
