Saudi Arabia’s Jazan region has been awarded several development and recreational projects aimed at improving tourism and enhancing public infrastructure. Accordingly, the Jazan Municipality is maintaining and rehabilitating 556 municipal and tourism facilities across the region. Notably, this includes 16 waterfronts, 235 public parks, 115 walkways and 190 sports grounds.
Jazan Municipality Offering High Value Projects
These projects are part of efforts to improve urban living standards and attract more visitors to the Jazan region. They will feature diverse natural landscapes ranging from coastal areas to mountainous terrain. Importantly, the initiatives are aligned with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and its Quality of Life Programme. The Jazan region has emerged as an important industrial hub in the Kingdom. Located in the southern part of Saudi Arabia, it occupies a strategic position along the Red Sea, serving as a vital gateway for global exports through its modern ports. In addition, the region is also rich in natural resources, which has encouraged increased investment in developing its industrial infrastructure. Accordingly, Jazan has secured large-scale projects, including Aramco’s Energy and Manufacturing Complex, worth SAR 78.75 billion (USD 21 billion).
Furthermore, the region is now home to 193 operational factories, with an additional 52 currently under construction. In addition, approximately 80 mining licenses have been issued in the region, highlighting its natural resource potential.
Numerous Sectors Available For Investment
Among the most attractive sectors for investment are food industries, metals and mining, manufacturing and heavy energy industries. Further promising opportunities are available in logistics and export services. Importantly, Jazan has established its own 24 square kilometre Special Economic Zone operating under special commercial regulations. It focusses on three key areas – food processing, metal processing and logistics. There are numerous incentives within the Jazan Special Economic Zone, which aim to create a business-friendly environment. These include preferential corporate income tax, 0% withholding tax on profits transferred abroad and 0% deferred customs duties on certain goods. Further benefits include flexible and supportive recruitment policies and exemptions from some operating fees for foreign employees and their families.
