Kazakhstan and Tajikistan officials recently discussed investment ties between the nations and explored ways of improving them. The ministerial discussions were held between Kazakhstan’s ambassador to Tajikistan and Tajikistan’s State Committee for Investments and State Property Management.
Kazakhstan, Tajikistan & Uzbekistan Strengthening Relationships
Kazakhstan and Tajikistan both emphasised strengthening collaboration in investment projects and exchanged views on financing and implementing major initiatives. In addition, the two countries discussed preparations for the upcoming session of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation.
In associated news, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are intensifying cooperation in tourism, and plan to jointly develop the sector. Last year, Kazakhstan welcomed over 5 million visitors from Uzbekistan, while 2.6 million Kazakh tourists travelled to Tashkent and Bukhara. Over 50 scheduled flights now operate weekly between the countries, with six new direct routes added in the past year.
Kazakhstan Government Entities Working Hard To Increase FDI
In a bid to strengthen foreign investment Kazakhstan outlined its key priorities at a recent government meeting. It featured high level officials from the Investment Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Kazakh Invest. Discussions noted the ongoing work to attract foreign direct investment, implement investment projects and engage with potential investors. It also covered the development of Kazakhstan national digital investment platform and preparations for international investment events. The organisations identified improving the effectiveness of engagement with investors and accelerating the implementation of investment projects as key priorities.
