Oman Ministry Commerce, Industry and Investment recently unveiled healthcare investment opportunities worth over OMR 16 million (USD 41.6 million). These include preventive care, medical rehabilitation and medical manufacturing as the Ministry targets expanding private sector participation in health.
Investment Opportunities To Develop Sultanate`s Health Sector
The opportunities announced by Oman Ministry Commerce, Industry and Investment are in cooperation with Ministry of Health and Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones. The initiative seeks to attract investors to support the development of specialised health services, medical industries and healthcare supply chains. In addition, it aims to contribute to the objectives of building a more sustainable health system under Oman Vision 2040.
Ministry Projects Include Hospitals And Medical Manufacturing
Healthcare investment opportunities include establishing an early detection centre in Bausher with investment value of OMR 7.5 million (USD 19.49 million). Accordingly, the facility is expected to address rising demand for preventive healthcare and early diagnosis services. Another project involves developing a specialised rehabilitation hospital in Muscat with investment value worth OMR 6 million (USD 15.59 million). The hospital will provide integrated rehabilitation services using modern treatment approaches and technologies.
The Oman Ministry Commerce, Industry and Investment initiative also includes two medical manufacturing projects. The first involves the production of chlorhexidine gluconate liquid at Salalah Freezone, with investment OMR 2.4 million (USD 6.23 million). The second requires manufacturing of paraffin-impregnated gauze at Sohar Freezone, with investment value worth OMR 578 thousand (USD 1.5 million). The two manufacturing projects are aimed at strengthening local production and increasing the competitiveness of Omani products in regional markets.
