Kazakhstan and China marked a new stage in their relationship as the Jiangsu Centre Central Asia opened in Astana. The Centre will focus on facilitating business engagement and strengthening trade, investment and economic cooperation.
Jiangsu Centre Central Asia Opened During Kazakhstan Trade Forum
The opening took place during the recently held China (Jiangsu Province) – Kazakhstan Forum on Trade and Economic Cooperation. The meeting brought together government officials and business representatives from both sides to discuss expanding strategic partnerships and investment opportunities.
Notably, Jiangsu Centre Central Asia companies are involved in 63 investment projects in Kazakhstan, underscoring the province’s growing economic footprint in the country. Accordingly, the Jiangsu Centre Central Asia will serve as a unified platform for supporting Chinese companies in the region, offering consulting services and promoting e-commerce development along key trade routes. Officials highlighted strong momentum in bilateral relations and reviewed prospects for joint projects in industry, logistics, agro-processing, petrochemicals and digital technologies.
Officials noted that Kazakhstan-China relations are currently at record highs, with bilateral trade reaching a record KZT 23.8 trillion (USD 49 billion) last year. This represents an 11% increase on a year-on-year comparison. Kazakhstan remains China’s key partner in Central Asia, accounting for a significant share of regional trade.
Astana International Financial Centre Held Recent China Investors Day
In associated news, The Astana International Financial Centre in partnership with China International Capital Corporation, recently hosted AIFC-CICC Investors Day. The event brought together representatives of Kazakhstan, Mainland China and Hong Kong SAR investment communities to discuss capital market development. Additionally it explored opportunities for expanding investment cooperation and new avenues for attracting capital to the region.
The AIFC currently has over 1,300 Chinese companies registered making their business community one of the largest represented foreign groups. During the visit, a number of memoranda were signed between the AIFC and Chinese and Hong Kong entities.
