Oman’s Digital Economy Hits OMR 3 Billion

Oman’s digital economy transactions reached approximately OMR 3 billion (USD 7.79 billion) between 2021 and 2024 reflecting the sector’s expansion. The figures were presented by Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which reviewed priorities under the 11th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).

Oman`s Digital Economy Among Fastest Growing Countries Worldwide

According to the International Data Centre Association, Oman ranks second in the Gulf and 18th globally among the fastest-growing countries in the digital economy. Their Global Digital Economy Report 2026 indicates significant progress for Oman as the Sultanate advances its diversification agenda. Moreover, Oman aims to increase the digital economy’s contribution to GDP from approximately 2% currently to 10% by 2040. The improved number of digital services and opportunites will increase the interest for company formation in Oman.

National Programmes Contributing To Significant Economic Growth

Furthermore, the government’s digital economy focus is embodied in the National Digital Economy Programme, approved by the Council of Ministers. It serves as a parallel programme to Oman Vision 2040 and as an independent pillar in the Eleventh Five-Year Plan. The Global Digital Economy Report 2026 revealed that the significant economic impact is expected to continue in 2026. Accordingly, investments in digital technologies including ICT equipment, software and databases have emerged as key drivers of global economic growth. The additional requirement for hardware, equipment and expertise provides substantial opportunities for investors considering company formation in Oman.

Notably, Oman`s digital offerings have witnessed a qualitative leap, with over 2,000 government services digitised between 2021 and 2025. This translates to 48 million digital transactions in 2025 – a 78% increase compared to 2024. The huge number of digital services provided by the government increase the ease of company formation in Oman.
