Qatar And Oman Deepen Investment Ties

Qatar and Oman officials met recently to explore expanding trade, investment cooperation, new partnership opportunities and improving private sector links. Discussions also examined how both economies can make greater use of their respective infrastructure, investment institutions and competitive advantages.

Funding Framework Agreed To Facilitate Joint Project Credit

The latest activity follows the 24th Qatar-Oman Joint Committee meeting in December 2025 which reviewed financial and economic cooperation. That meeting produced a framework memorandum between Qatar Development Bank and Oman’s Ministry of Finance to facilitate joint project credit. Accordingly, the recent meetings brought together Qatar and Oman officials responsible for investment promotion, industry, commerce, transport and business development.

Qatar Chamber revealed bilateral trade between the countries reached QAR 6.2 billion (USD 1.7 billion) in 2024 growing 17% year-on-year. In addition, trade exchange between them exceeded QAR 4 billion (USD 1.1 billion) in 2025. Furthermore, the Chamber noted that many Qatari companies were investing in Oman. Meanwhile, approximately 722 Omani companies currently operate in Qatar, including 533 fully Omani owned entities and 176 joint ventures. Statistics also show 13 Omani companies are registered under the Qatar Financial Centre.

Cooperation Between Qatar And Oman Special Economic Freezones

The high level meetings also included conversations between leaders from Qatar and Oman Free and Special Economic Zones. Accordingly, both sides discussed cooperation involving special industrial cities and industrial clusters, as well as possible partnerships. They also covered value-chain integration, a joint investment opportunities programme, access to regional markets and improving supply-chain resilience. Officials also examined how the two countries could capitalise on land connectivity, ports and logistics infrastructure. Furthermore, Qatar`s Ministry of Transport and Oman Investment Authority are targeting logistics as key areas, alongside land and maritime transport. The discussions also covered exchanging expertise and strengthening direct communication between both sides to build sustainable investment partnerships.
